Examples:
-The train leaves at 1pm, right? (True Meaning: Am I correct?/double-check.)
-Yes.
-Taxis are common in New York City, right? (True Meaning: Is it true?)
-Yes. But, these days, they are very expensive.
-(Angry) You made a big mistake!
-(Silent)
-Right?! (True Meaning: Speak!)
If I am explaining something, I say "right?" to double-check if you understand my explanation:
-Why do Japanese people eat so much fish?
-Well, Japan is an island, right? (True Meaning: Do you understand?)
-Right. (True Meaning: I understand.)
-So, fish is more affordable in Japan.
